Hawd (shortened from hawod) is a Cebuano term for an expert, a master, or someone of exceptional skill. It is the perfect word to describe this blog about video games. Nikki, the owner-writer of this site is an excellent, as it requires repeating, writer, a skilled player, and someone who genuinely loves video games. Those three qualities rarely coexist in video game journalism; more often the rule: pick two.

The truth is, this website is both an experiment and a means to an end. Hawd Network (hawd.net) is an experiment designed to test how one can rank in search engines in the age of A.I. slop while outright rejecting Google / Microsoft tools and services. It is also a means to an end, as the owner of this site has authored countless articles of wide variance in quality, from near masterpieces to actual webspam. This website is a way to drown out the past and to provide honest, human insights as an act of penitence.
